June 24, 2025 — Sony has announced four new games coming soon to PlayStation VR2, showcasing a diverse lineup designed to expand the virtual reality landscape on the platform. Among these are innovative titles ranging from philosophical shooters to cosmic survival racers and immersive room-scale puzzle adventures, with several slated for release later this year or early next year.
Dreams of Another: Philosophical Shooter with Perspective Switching
Developed by Q-Games, the studio behind the acclaimed PixelJunk series, Dreams of Another is a visually stunning, surreal shooter that blends action with reflective storytelling. Players control “The Man in Pajamas,” navigating a particle-built dream world where shooting creates the environment itself, embodying the philosophy of “No Creation Without Destruction.” One of the game’s standout features on PS VR2 is the ability to switch between third-person and a special VR-only first-person perspective, enhancing immersion and offering new ways to experience the game’s intricate world. The third-person mode uses eye-tracking to aim simply by looking, while adaptive triggers and haptic feedback deepen tactile engagement. Dreams of Another is expected to launch on PS5 and PS VR2 later this year.
Meteora: Survival Racing Through the Cosmos
Big Boot Games brings Meteora, a unique take on racing where players embody a meteor hurtling through outer space. This cosmic survival racer challenges players to distinguish between hazards such as explosive asteroid belts and electrically charged debris, as well as to collect energy crystals that boost mass and stardust that increases speed. The PS VR2 Sense controllers’ haptic feedback simulates the physical strain of steering and navigating through dangerous cosmic terrain. Meteora is set for release on PS VR2 in 2025, offering an adrenaline-fueled experience with strategic depth and leaderboard competition.
Hotel Infinity: Redefining Room-Scale VR
From Studio Chyr, creators of Manifold Garden, comes Hotel Infinity, a puzzle adventure designed explicitly for room-scale VR. The game features impossible geometry and a sprawling hotel environment that players can explore fully within a 2×2 meter physical space, eliminating the need for traditional locomotion or teleportation mechanics. Players solve enigmatic puzzles by manipulating objects through portals, lifts, and twisting hallways that create the illusion of infinite space. The game features robust sitting and standing mode controls for accessibility, and its soundtrack includes contributions from composer Laryssa Okada, returning after her work on Manifold Garden. Hotel Infinity is planned for release on PS VR2 later this year and will also come to Quest 3, continuing Studio Chyr’s reputation for mind-bending VR experiences.
Studio Chyr explained their design philosophy: “We built it to revolutionize how games are experienced in roomscale VR,” aiming to push “the immersive nature of VR forward as far as we can.”
The Fourth Title: Details Awaiting
While Sony confirmed four new titles in total, detailed information has been released only on the three above. The fourth game remains unspecified as of now, with hints suggesting further reveals may arrive soon.
These announcements underscore Sony’s continued dedication to cultivating a rich and varied VR ecosystem on the PS VR2 headset, nearly a year since its launch. By blending different genres and pushing technical boundaries, these upcoming titles aim to attract both dedicated VR enthusiasts and newcomers to virtual reality gaming.
